Arrival, Part Two

I have arrived. And mostly in one piece.

Above is the view from my back porch.

As expected, getting here was a bit tricky. I managed to hire a transport service to get me from Santo Domingo to Los Cacaos, the nearest town, and from there it was a 6km hike through the mountainous jungle terrain.

It was quite the experience, and hopefully future treks will be easier to do without being weighed down by my backpack.

Also as expected, there's no cell service up here; I'll have to head back down the mountain for that, not that I should need to, barring some emergency. So, at noon on November 1st, I turned off my phone.

There is some wifi around the property, surprisingly, but so far it has only worked for about two minutes, intermittently. I had to wait awhile before uploading this post, but it's better than having to hike all the way back to town, and is finicky enough not to tempt me towards its depth.

My home for the next three months is sparse and more than suits my needs. It's actually a little bigger than some of the hotel rooms I've lived in.

I'm going to spend some time exploring a bit while I have daylight.

I'll also try and put together a summary of where I am and why. In short, I'm unplugged.

And here's some proof of Life- I'll try to work on my photography skills while I'm up here:
